Mas, 42

Before working with Lotus and Luna, Mas traveled 2 hours a day to work in the city. When her husband was handicapped in a major car accident, Mas had to quit her job to take care of him at home. By working with Lotus and Luna, Mas is able to earn a living wage from home and keep her husband company.

What are your dreams for the future?
I dream about one day having enough income to heal my family, and the happiness that brings will be enough.
What is your favorite food? 
I love Southern Thai Food, anything hot and spicy.

Ya, 55     

Ya became the sole breadwinner for her household after her husband suffered a stroke and was no longer able to work. She took housekeeping jobs in the city, some days working long hours and some days getting no work at all. When Lotus and Luna came to her village, Ya was able to quit these jobs and start working from home.

What is your favorite thing about working for Lotus and Luna?
My husband and I are both much happier now that we can spend more time together and I can take better care of him. Sometimes he helps me to keep the beads organized too!

 Tiam, 57

Tiam used to work on a rice farm, working dawn till dusk on crops owned by other people. This work became very mentally and physically straining as she grew older. These days, Tiam works in her village as an artisan for Lotus and Luna. She prefers this lifestyle, as it allows her to work on her own schedule, and from her own home!

What do you do in your spare time?

I like to be with family. My children are in school and I am very happy.

Do you have a message for our customers?

I hope the customers like our products, because we do make them with a lot of love. 

Cake, 24

In college, Cake thought she wanted to become a dance teacher but, as many of us do in our twenties, she changed her mind and decided that wasn't the path for her. While she takes some time to figure it all out, Cake is working as an artisan in her village making bracelets for Lotus and Luna!

Pop culture influences?

I love Marvel movies and Adam Levine because he is really cool and has great abs.

What do you like to do in your free time?

I like to hang out with friends in the city and also travel to different provinces in Thailand to see something different.

 

Kai, 45

Kai has three children, two sons and one daughter. Before Lotus and Luna came to her village, she sold food on the street. On top of the hard work and long hours, she also travelled in and out of the city many times a day to bring her kids to and from school. Now, she only picks up food jobs if she needs them, and she has more free time to spend with and take care of her children.

What is your favorite thing to do with your kids?

I always teach them the importance of hard work. My oldest daughter is 14 and sometimes helps me work on the bracelets after school.

Pen, 61

Pen used to be a carpenter and wood craftswoman, but had to find work after a wood shortage began. Now working for Lotus and Luna, Pen says she prefers making bracelets because she is able to earn more money and work in a much more peaceful environment. She loves the security and stability of making bracelets.

What do you do in your free time?

I love being a grandmother and cooking big traditional Thai meals for my family.
